Study Shows Exercise Makes Elderly People Happier

Researchers at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ have discovered that exercise, particularly strength training, can improve the mood of older people. The researchers reviewed 32 studies, which revealed remarkable consistency in this area. Even so, the scientists noted that research concerning elderly exercise, including optimal intensity, frequency, and duration, is "severely lacking."

According to the studies, the combination of strength training and aerobic exercise had a more positive effect on mood than did aerobic exercise alone.
