Congress Reauthorizes Older Americans Act

Congress has reauthorized the Older Americans Act, which expired five years ago but has been funded during that period through the appropriations process.

The Act provides funding for important programs such as the Meals-on-Wheels delivery service, job training, and pension counseling, as well as creating a family caregiver program to assist those who provide care for frail older family members. The family caregiver program would provide counseling, caregiver training, and other services.

About $1.5 billion is earmarked for the package.
