Vitamin C May Be Bad for Cancer Patients

According to new research, cancer patients who take large amounts of vitamin C may actually inadvertently protect the cancer from treatments like radiation and chemotherapy. This conclusion is based upon the discovery that cancer cells contain high concentrations of vitamin C, which in turn protects the cancer cells from oxygen damage.

Doctors caution that they cannot prove that vitamin C harms cancer patients during treatment, but they believe large doses are detrimental. They also warn that this research does not devalue vitamin C as an important antioxidant that benefits the body, but it indicates that cancer cells also benefit.
