Symptoms to Heed
Elaine Alpert, M.D., M.P.H., of Boston University School
of Medicine points out some symptoms that should never be ignored. Anyone
who experiences any of the following should notify a physician as soon
as possible:
Unintentional loss of 10 or more lbs.;
Headaches so severe that over-the-counter pain killers
don’t help;
A dull, pressure-like chest pain that comes on for no
apparent reason;
Incessant or recurring pain should not be passed off
as "indigestion;"
Rectal bleeding, blood in urine, or vaginal bleeding
after menopause;
Sadness or irritability for more than two weeks (could
also include spontaneous crying spells, unexplained aches and pains; or
lack of concentration.)
