The President also announced a plan to provide immediate help to seniors with high out-of-pocket medication costs by developing a Medicare-endorsed prescription drug discount card program. The cards will provide discounts on drugs while Congress and the Bush administration work to design and implement Medicare coverage for prescription drugs.

Discount cards are expected to save Medicare beneficiaries about 10% to 25% on prescription drug prices and may be available by November.
