  Did You Know?
Jet Lag May Cause Brain Shrinkage

Chronic jet lag may actually make your brain shrink. A recent study detailed in the journal Nature Neuroscience compared the size of the temporal lobes in two groups of flight attendants. The researchers discovered that the attendants who had less rest time between flights had smaller right temporal lobes.

Many people who travel between drastically different time zones suffer from jet lag, which causes disorientation, fatigue, and sleeplessness. If this study is correct, jet lag may also cause deficits in short-term memory and cognition, both of which are functions of the right temporal lobe.
