Bull Market Widens Gap Between Rich and Poor

While the earnings for the poorest fifth of Americans rose by only one percent between 1988 and 1998, the earnings of the richest fifth rose by 15%. "The benefits of this [economic] growth have not been evenly distributed," said Elizabeth McNichol, an author of a study that identified the widening income gap.

But Stephen Moore of the Cato Institute claims the study contorts data to put a negative face on a "spectacular economy."
