Don’t Worry, Be Happy . . .
Live Longer!
After three decades of research, a group of scientists from the Mayo
Clinic has found that optimists live about 19% longer than pessimists.
The study involved 839 people, who were given personality surveys more
than thirty years ago. Their survival rates were then compared to the expected
survival rates.
"It confirmed our common-sense belief," said Toshihiko Maruta, the projects
lead researcher. "It tells us that mind and body are linked and that attitude
has an impact on the final outcome, death."
