GROUNDS FOR DIVORCE

Grounds: Adultery; cruelty orviolence; desertion; drug/alcohol addiction; impotency;nonsupport; insanity; pregnant at time of marriage; conviction ofcrime; fraudulent contract; procuring divorce out of state notreleasing one party.

Residency: One party must have beenresident in good faith for 6 months before filing.

Waiting Period: Final immediatelyunless appealed, but neither may marry for 6 months.

No Fault: Incompatibility.

Legitimacy of Children: Issue ofannulled marriage are legitimate.

Prohibited Marriages: Betweenancestor and descendant, stepparent and stepchild, uncle andniece, aunt and nephew, brother and sister, first cousins (butwill recognize marriage of first cousins married in state whereit is legal)

Responds to public inquiries for birth and death records datedfrom October, 1908. Charges $5 search fee. If certificate is onrecord, search fee pays for a certified copy. If record of birthcertificate is not located in file, the search fee is creditedtoward the filing of a delayed certificate of birth and anadditional $5 is charged for the issuance of the first certifiedcopy. Birth record requests may only be made by the registrant orhis next-of-kin, authorized agent or attorney (in adoptionproceedings). Marriage and divorce records are filed in eachcounty. The fees for marriage and divorce records vary by county.For all inquiries, enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
